Alkali emissions characterization in chemical looping combustion of wood, wood char, and straw fuels

چکیده
Chemical looping combustion of wood pellets (WP), char (WC), and straw (SP) was conducted in a 60 kW CLC pilot with ilmenite braunite oxygen carriers (OCs). Alkali emissions were investigated impactor-based surface ionization detector (SID) measurements. Particle size distributions for WP WC fuels dominated by coarse particles formed refractory species. For SP fuel, the distribution bimodal distinct fine particle mode nucleation volatile ash Thermodynamic modelling stable alkali species at 800 °C predicted that high KOH(g) lower concentrations KCl(g) are fuels. equilibrium K condensed-phase species, followed KCl(g), KOH(g). Modelling fuel-OC interactions showed decreases levels KCl(g). Braunite impacted only levels. Impactor sample leachate analysis WP-braunite operation, contained KCl, NaCl, KOH, NaOH, decreasing order. متن کاملHandling of impregnated waste wood and characterization of ash residues after combustion of the wood
In the next ten years the amounts of waste wood impregnated with Cu, Cr and As (CCA) is expected to increase dramatically world wide. CCA has been widely used for wood preservation since the early 1950s and because the fixation of CCA in the wood is good, the concentration of CCA is still high, when the wood is at the end of service. In some countries e.g. Denmark and Norway, the use of As for ...
متن کاملWood Char Depth: Interpretation in Fire Investigations
INTRODUCTION Wood char depth patterns have been considered important by fire investigators in most countries where significant use is made of wood as a construction material. This is natural, since post-fire patterns found on wood members are generally more pronounced and extensive than those found on many other construction materials. But the present state of affairs has been such that there i...
متن کاملOrganic compounds in biomass smoke from residential wood combustion: Emissions characterization at a continental scale
[1] Wood smoke in the atmosphere often accounts for 20–30% of the ambient fineparticle concentrations. In communities where wood is burned for home heating, wood smoke can at times contribute the majority of the atmospheric fine-particle burden. Chemical mass balance receptor models that use organic compounds as tracers can be used to determine the contributions of different emission sources, i...
